Q: What’s the point of doing a 45mins meditation when I can do 10mins?
A: With 45 minutes I get to experience more frequently the changing nature of emotions and thoughts, no matter how hard I try to control them. Then in real life it is easier to not-hold-on to the pleasant or fight the unpleasant. When there is less effort to control the uncontrollable, there is greater capacity to navigate, rather than fight against the current.
Conclusion: if you are meditating to stop your mind constantly trying to fix things, I highly recommend doing a 45min meditation. And if you notice a difference then consider a course like the one mentioned below.
