Diary #276 Learning from Peers

Scenario 1: A mindfulness teacher explains that...

...if I notice the thought that triggered me, I can recognise it as just a thought—rather than being swept away by worries and "what-ifs."

Scenario 2:

A fellow student shares that, while stuck in traffic, she noticed her thoughts about being late and managed to not to get caught up in the stress.

Both scenarios are real. But which one had more impact? The second, of course. Why? Because my subconscious tells me: if she can do it, so can I -  it feels more possible.

I see this more and more while facilitating mindfulness courses—learning from peers makes a difference. When it comes to developing skills, especially mind-related ones, being in a group can be very beneficial.
