What does kindness have to do with being more tuned-in-to-what-I-am-experiencing, aka more mindful?
Kindness brings greater connection. And I'm not talking about grand gestures. A simple intention to be kind to myself or others can have an impact, like a brush stroke on a canvas.
For example in a tense negotiation it may be helpful that I acknowledge the other's concerns or make a small concession. Done authentically and with presence (ie not filtered through other intentions or thoughts), it may be enough to drop the guard and result in a more productive conversation.
